Pee Wee Horse Bit horse bits and horse tack from pee wee bit

"I have been using the Pee Wee Bit now for about a year and I have found it to be a great bit for horses of all types. My own area of interest is Dressage and I have two school horses that I teach riders on.
I was attracted to the bit for a couple of reasons. One, because I prefer a mullen mouthed bit to a jointed bit (I feel it is kinder than a joint) and two because I prefer a thinner sweet iron mouthpiece to a thicker mouthpiece (I feel that it sits better in the mouth). It wasn't until I started using the bit that I found that I also liked the arms on either side of the mouthpiece that help the horse to yield when turning. In all this bit has many advantages over other bits and is a very useful addition to a tack room. "

"I found the Pee Wee Bit to be a simple, uncomplicated bit which proved especially beneficial for training fussy-mouthed horses, encouraging contact and correct flexion. With one particular mare which I had tried various bits on, the Pee Wee proved to be the only bit she would accept in a relaxed and happy manner."
Manolo Mendez
Professor of Classical Dressage

"The Pee Wee bit is excellent for retraining horses with hard mouths and is a great alternative for strong horses in cross country and showjumping. Because if used correctly, is still a soft bit but is very effective for slowing and turning. I found my horse doesn't lean on this bit, making him much lighter and easier for me to control."

I got Shasta this past summer and I adore her. I recently acquired her after over 20 years of being without a horse and I'm just someone thrilled to be back in the saddle with a sweetheart of a horse. She has a wonderful temperament and is as sweet as she can be.
We had a problem though. I was told she was tender mouthed and hated every bit anyone had ever tried on her. I thought maybe these people just didn't fit the bit right or were too heavy handed with her but I soon found that she was, at least tender mouthed. Any pressure on the bit would stop her in her tracks. She'd toss her head and just shut down. It was frustrating for me to know the bit was hurting her and also frustrating to not be able to ride her without constant interruption and hesitation on her part.

I could ride her with a halter, with effort, but not nearly the problems we had when I put a bit in her mouth. So after determining there wasn't a physical problem with her mouth or teeth, I went off in search of a more gentle bit. I ordered the Pee Wee. After a few minutes with the new bit she was a different horse and confirmed what I knew all along, that she is a great horse and will do what you ask without question as long as she's not being hurt.

I only have to give her very slight cues and she does what I ask her to do without a fuss now. So, although I'm not competing, or training horses, the impact is tremendous as far as I'm concerned. Shasta and I can ride pleasantly, peacefully and confidently and I have the peace of mind in knowing I'm not causing my horse stress or pain.
Thank you so much.

"All I can say is thankyou!

I was a bit sceptical when I bought the bit, that it could really do all the things that were stated in the ad & testimonials. I have an 8 and 1/2 year old part quarter horse mare - aptly named Miss-Understood. But before me, she had a tragic life of being broken in hard, then used a trail horse (where she received numerous scars from badly fitting saddles), then sold to a kids riding school where she soon became known as the unfloatable-uncatchable-unridable horse. Hence when I got her, she was destined for the doggers. But I can tell you that despite being hit etc with every conceivable thing, this horse does not have a mean bone in her body. She is forgiving in every way, & she is my horse. But I had not had any significant progress with her now for over a year with our riding - ie we weren't getting anywhere.

So I bought the bit...

I have been using my new pee wee bit for a week, and the change in my mare has been nothing less than amazing. I have struggled with finding a bit that would let me feel like I was riding without my mare constantly banging & moving her head around on it. I have tried ring snaffle, eggbutt snaffle, eggbutt french snaffle, portmouth with a kimblewick. But none of these has given the response I have had in the last week. With the pee wee bit, my mare became gentle and rounded, and didn't keep pulling me forward every time she took up the bit.

And at Pony Club yesterday, people were coming up & commenting on how well my horse was going, & how far she had come. Even my instructor noticed the difference in my riding, as I was, for the first time, able to separate my hands from my legs & body & ride with an independent seat!

I now look forward to riding again, & am riding more than ever. I really didn't think I would be writing this after just one week of using the bit. Miss & I still have a long way to go, but I believe we are on our way there again ."

"Got my Pee Wee today.. had our young 3 year old buckskin working like a champ.. had never had a bit in his mouth and within 5 minutes you could work him from the saddle with 2 fingers. My wife had him going like a totally broke horse in less than one half hour.. just amazed at this bit.
THANKS PEE WEE."
John Argo, Walton KY

"The Pee Wee Bit provides better control than other bits of similar design and does so with little or no irritation the sensitive parts of the mouth; lips, tongue, cheeks or lower jaw of the horse. The Pee Wee Bit allows the rider to have maximum control over the horse with a bit that is gentle and acceptable to the horse. Also, the relaxed manner that the horse accepts the bit has therapeutic and performance benefits as well. From a veterinary view point I recommend the Pee Wee Bit."
James A. Meeker, D.V.M.

"I just ordered my 2nd Pee Wee bit. I had taken my horse to a trainer to deal with some head tossing and bit fighting problems. I asked him to try this bit and although he was skeptical he tried it.
He loves it! My horse seems so much more relaxed and is not fighting the bit. I am so happy that I am ordering another one."
Sandy, League City TX

"The first week that I had a Pee Wee Bit in my possession I was so inspired by the results with my own three horses that I arranged to have it tested on four other horses.

Simple in design, the nicely curved mullen mouth is inviting to even the softest mouthed horse. A horse that wants to head tilt, lean on a rein or lug in resistance can be corrected with basic rein aids that activate the angled side bars (shanks).

The bit can correct the heaviest and ugliest of evasions even with basic riding skills. Riding using the Pee Wee Bit creates beautiful results for all levels of riders and horses." Read more…

"This is the best bit we have ever used. We have always used a snaffle in the past. You would not know there was a bit in their mouth, unless you looked. No chewing or playing with bit. Not harsh on mouth, but great control. Excellent investment for the serious or pleasure rider.
Your commitment to a quality product is very evident. Excellent customer service and prompt delivery.
Would recommend to fellow riders.
Thank You!!!"

"This bit is awesome. I have used a lot of bits over the years but I have never used just one bit that can be used so many ways with so much effect.

The bit is very gentle on the horses mouth and yet I have so much control over the worst pullers. I am also impressed by the amount of neck flex I get when the horses yield to the bit. There is a very big market out there for this bit. I expect all horse trainers will end up with one."

I am very impressed with the Pee Wee bit because of the instant control jockeys get with minimum resistance. It also has enormous benefits with saftey issues.

It totally eliminates lugging in and out which is a huge plus when training and racing thorougbreds. A must have piece of tack.

WOW!
That about sums it up. I thought I would give the Pee Wee a try last night and try to regain some control after a disaster of a weekend up at Foxton (napping, bucking & rearing). What a difference. The best work she has ever done in her life - lovely, soft and round, but best of all, she was taking the contact forward and out and it was consistent. I tried her in a kimblewick once, just to give her a fright, but all that did was make her jack her head in and there was no length of stride.

But in the Pee Wee I could actually feel her taking me somewhere. Even when she got too strong all I had to do was give her the slightest half halt and she dropped down a gear! I think the biggest difference was in her head - ever since I started her she has shaken her head when she has been ridden. I even hogged her mane, thinking it was her hair flopping around her ears that was annoying her, but it wasn't. On her tests on the weekend she got marked down for bobbing her head up and down and not staying consistent in the contact. In the Pee Wee she didn't shake her head or bob it up and down once. I had the most pleasurable ride on her last night that I have ever had, so thank you!

This is the most versatile bit I have ever used. The Pee Wee Bit is particularly useful for horses that are not comfortable in a snaffle. From starting youngsters to retraining off the track Thoroughbreds, "it is a must have", for its ability to relay a message to the horses mouth with a minimum of pain or confusion.

The Pee Wee bit allows the horse to concentrate on its learning process without the distraction of something uncomfortable in its mouth.

I recently was given a Paso Fino mare that had her mouth ruined by a trainer. We were using a rubber snaffle on her but I told the girl that was helping me with her that I got your Pee Wee bit, she was reluctant to try it since the mare was doing ok with the rubber snaffle... We put the Pee Wee Bit on her and it was amazing how much better she did with your bit.
I just ordered another one for my Arabian mare!
Thanks for inventing this bit, it is really remarkable.
Ann Burks, Montgomery TX

I have to say I was amazed at the difference with my horse. He has a very soft mouth and has always gotten behind the bit to avoid contact. When I would ride him, even on a loose Western rein, he would put his head on his chest and start grinding on even the mildest bit when he got bored or frustrated.

I have used the Pee Wee bit three or four times and he is a different horse. No getting behind the bit, only minimal grinding and he seems much more comfortable. He is one of the few natural Walking horses left and he gaits beautifully in this bit. He naturally sets his head but this bit doesn't make him freeze up at the pole like many gaited horse bits do. I use a chiropractor and he has notices my horse is much more free moving at the pole.

I use it with the reins on the bottom ring and have found he is way more responsive with just a touch of my fingers on the reins.

I've been riding in a broken snaffle bit for 35 years on various horses. Then I got my unbroke 10 year old, 1900lb Draft horse and she wouldn't accept a broken snaffle bit, plus she had a problem with putting her tongue over the bit. I figured it was her teeth and had her teeth floated, but she still was agitated with the broken snaffle. So I decided to try the Pee Wee bit after reading about it on the internet.

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical at first. She was able to get her tongue over the bit in the rings down and rings up position. BUT, the big difference was, she was not fighting the bit like she was with the broken snaffle. She was just trying to figure out where to put her tongue. So with the rings up position I continued to feed her carrots with it on to teach her to keep her tongue under the bit. With only 2 rides on her, she has learned to keep her tongue under the bit and she is so relaxed.

Attached is a picture of her with me on her for her first ride. You will see how relaxed she is. Keep in mind, this is a 10 year old 1900lb, 17.2 hand draft mare that has never been ridden until now.

I have had a chance to try out the Pee Wee bit. I am very impressed by the quality and craftmanship of this bit. I have a 4 yr old draft cross and I have used many different snaffle bits during his training. He has reached a point in his training where I would like to introduce him to curb pressure, and perhaps a bit that would "get his attention" a little more without being harsh. He is learning collection, backing, and neck reining and like a typical young horse he "tests" me to see what he can get away with on occasion. I much prefer correcting him with the Pee Wee bit because it does not have that "nutcracker" action of a broken snaffle, yet is as effective or even MORE effective.

The PeeWee bit has worked very well for us. I have used it on all three settings just to test his response. The leverage position was a smooth transition and does give us a faster stopping response. I have to give this bit an A+ and I will recommend it to my friends. Several people have already asked about it!

Just wanted to tell you that I ordered a Pee Wee bit and have been using it for a week, and am absolutely delighted with the results! My young horse and I were struggling through so many bits, but now, we're really communicating. From the literature it seemed to be too good to be true, but it is true!
Pee Wee must be a wizard, because this bit is like magic!
Kind regards and heartfelt thanks from Liane & Max

After Phurchasing my 16.1hh Thoroughbred gelding, which had a history of racing and grade 1 eventing, I as a 13 year old had some difficulties holding him on cross country and the hunting field. After trying many different bits I found the Pee Wee Bit made these events alot more enjoyable, which gave me more confidence.
Laura Shepherd, Tasmania

"My horse is more relaxed and responsive with the Pee Wee Bit. She is not fighting the bit or putting her nose to her chest to get away from it anymore (as she did with her previous bits). She holds her head at the right level now instead of constantly tucking her head to her chest when she runs... AND she doesn't fidget or fuss with the bit like she did before. She actually stands quietly while waiting her turn. That has been the biggest relief. Thank you so much, I had given up thinking there was something I could do for her.

Thank you...a fan of the Pee Wee Bit for sure. I've told all my friends about it."
Kathy Waits, Yuma AZ

"Just wanted to let you know that my horse is doing very well with the new bit. I have ridden him with it on three trail rides. With all the other bits I tried, he constantly fussed with the bit, trying to get over/under it. He doesn't do any of that with the Pee Wee. He is very relaxed, and quite responsive.
Thank you!"
Susan, Stafford VA

Talented Australian Representive Claire Deavin is impressed with the Pee Wee Bit and the benefits the bit provides.

"My young warmblood mare was working on the forehand and not very responsive in the mouth, this made it hard for me to get her working in the correct frame. I tried the "Pee Wee Bit" and it is like no other bit I have used.

It is perfect for my mare as it makes her soft and more responsive in the mouth and helps make her stay light in front. This allows her to use her back end more efficiently which is important for her jumping. I will be using this bit on both my showjumpers and show hacks."

This is a must for any rider!
I have been using the Pee Wee Bit when riding and jumping and I absolutely love and recommend it.
It's given me another level of communication that I've been striving for with my horse, Mary. The improvement in head carriage is great, which also helps keep her adrenaline down. It was a noticeable improvement immediately.
Cheers and happy riding.

"The bit pacifies an active mouth caused by tension which is common in performance horses."
Sharon White, Dressage and Eventing

"I found the Pee Wee bit a very useful addition to my bitting range. I trialled it on a range of horses and found it useful for many issues and especially for the horse that evades the contact.

The Pee Wee bit has a kind sweet iron mullen mouthpiece so when the horse is soft the bit stays quiet in the mouth however as soon as the horse tries to evade the jaw control comes into effect giving an instant softening response.

I would recommend this bit to riders in all Equestrian disciplines."
Judith Hayes
NZ Equestrian Federation Coach and Trainer.

"Hi at PeeWee
I have received and trialed the bit over the weekend and I have to say I'm impressed. My mare leans on the rein and she is very strong, and with this bit she's more balanced, doesn't evade by overbending and she doesn't rush...
Thanks for the great bit."
Lea, Tasmania

I heard about the Pee Wee Bit from my horse chiropractor, Patricia Bona. She urged me to give it a try since she'd had such phenomenal results with it.

The first time I tried it I had already warmed up in my usual bit, a gentle double jointed snaffle. I couldn't tell from that first trial if the Pee Wee was going to result in significant improvement in my horse. The second time I tried it I had it in my bridle from the very beginning of the ride. The difference in his acceptance of the bit, relaxation and suppleness was immediately obvious.

My horse is a 10 year old off the track Standardbred who retired from racing when he was six. I started him under saddle after his racing career was over and we've made steady but extremely slow progress. He has always fussed over the contact no matter how gentle the bit or how tactfully I try to ride! With the Pee Wee bit he is truly becoming steady and more connected. I do dressage and trail riding with him and the progress we made in the last month and a half is roughly equal to what we took a year and a half to achieve before.

Not only does he respect my half halts, but he is steadier in the contact and seems much more comfortable all around. For the first time I can resist with my hands and feel the energy come around through the hindquarters and elevate and slow his front. I have been recommending this bit to all my rider friends and will continue to do so. If only I had found it four years ago!

Thanks for providing both of us with such an exciting and useful training aid.
Kim Robson

"Over the years I have never used a bit so effective and versatile. This is truly a multipurpose bit that will have huge market appeal and provide enormous benefits for both riders and horses over a wide range of disciplines.

There is no doubt that in years to come this horseman from Lindrith, New Mexico will have made a valuable contribution to the equine industry."
